DTI’s livelihood program empowers entrepreneurs from marginalized communities in Laguna
Laguna, Philippines — To stimulate further economic growth in Laguna, the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) organized a series of training seminars for 180 aspiring entrepreneurs from marginalized communities in the province from November 25 to November 28.
The DTI Laguna Provincial Office, along with its Negosyo Centers, facilitated the training for beneficiaries of the Negosyo Serbisyo sa Barangay (NSB) program, which aims to promote entrepreneurship and drive economic development at the grassroots level.
After a thorough profiling and screening process, the seminar participants were selected from marginalized groups identified under the NSB program, including senior citizens, persons with disabilities, indigenous people, and repatriated overseas Filipino workers.
The training seminars conducted in Luisiana and Cavinti, Majayjay and Nagcarlan, Pakil and Mabitac, and Bay; equipped participants with essential business startup knowledge. The sessions also guided them in developing simplified action plans.
This initiative aims to provide direct assistance, resources, and information to marginalized sectors in barangays or local communities. By empowering these individuals to start or sustain their businesses, the program promotes entrepreneurship as a means to reduce poverty.
The DTI Laguna remains steadfast in its commitment to nurturing a vibrant and inclusive entrepreneurial ecosystem in the province. Through strategic programs like the NSB training seminars, the DTI continues to empower individuals, strengthen communities, and drive economic progress.
