DTI kickstarts multi-year Tatak Pinoy Strategy; holds inaugural meeting to drive industrial transformation

Pasig City, Philippines—The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Tatak Pinoy (TP) Council Working Groups held their inaugural joint meeting on March 28 to begin the development of the multi-year Tatak Pinoy Strategy (TPS). This demonstrates the Philippines’ strategic push for industrial transformation and enhanced global competitiveness.
Assistant Secretary Englebert Josef G. Chua, Chief of Staff and Tatak Pinoy Strategy Office (TPSO) Supervising Head, emphasized the critical role of stakeholder collaboration in this initiative.
“We, the TP Council Working Groups, have the privilege and responsibility to lay down the foundations for this transformative initiative,” said Assistant Secretary Chua.
“Now that we are in the early months of 2025, we are determined to continue on this path of providing high-impact public service to the Filipino people through Tatak Pinoy,” he added.
The TPSO, serving as the TP Council’s Interim Secretariat, organized the meeting to provide updates on the TP implementation and align the working groups on their roles in formulating the TPS.
The TP Council Secretariat briefed the working groups on the TPS formulation, outlining key development phases, timelines, milestones, and methodologies for a data-driven and inclusive approach.
The meeting also highlighted ongoing initiatives guiding the TPS, and previewed upcoming activities designed to support the Tatak Pinoy Act’s (TPA) overarching goals.
The TP Council is responsible for organizing and leading the working groups to establish strategic objectives, set targets, conduct consultations, and oversee the effective implementation of the TPS. Each working group corresponds to one of the five TPS pillars: (1) human resources; (2) infrastructure; (3) technology and innovation; (4) investments; and (5) sound financial management.
This initiative is part of the implementation of the Republic Act No. 11981, also known as the Tatak Pinoy (Proudly Filipino) Act, the country’s first legislated industrial policy.
Advancing President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s industrial transformation agenda, the DTI, through the TP Council Interim Secretariat, will convene with the Tatak Pinoy Working Groups throughout 2025 to further refine and implement the TPS. ♦
