DTI inks MOA with NSC, strengthens security framework for construction projects
Makati City, Philippines––The Department of Trade and Industry-Construction Industry Authority of the Philippines (DTI-CIAP) formalized a memorandum of agreement (MOA) with the National Security Council (NSC) on February 21 to establish a comprehensive assessment of national security threats in construction projects. With the Philippine Contractors Accreditation Board (DTI-CIAP-PCAB) as a witness, the MOA aims to reinforce framework for construction projects across the Philippines.
Secretary Roque reaffirmed the DTI’s commitment to foster innovation, integrity, and inclusivity within the country’s industries.
“By working together, we ensure that infrastructure development not only fuels economic growth but also safeguards the welfare of every Filipino. In line with President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s Bagong Pilipinas agenda, this initiative embodies our collective vision for a modern, vibrant, and secure nation,” Secretary Roque underscored.
NSC Director General Eduardo M. Año expressed optimism about the agreement and commended PCAB’s proactive efforts to address national security concerns within the construction industry.
“The NSC fully welcomes the initiative of the PCAB, which recognizes the possible national security implications of its regulatory duties, and has reached out to us to jointly tackle this growing concern,”Director General Año stated.
He further emphasized that the MOA is a crucial step toward strengthening and advancing the country’s national security.
The signing ceremony was witnessed by DTI-CIAP-PCAB Director Pericles P. Dacay and NSC Deputy General Marlo M. Guloy, along with the other members of the CIAP Board.
This strategic partnership between the DTI and the NSC establishes a collaborative framework to assess potential national security threats, ensuring that construction projects in the country undergo meticulous inspection to prevent risks and safeguard the nation’s security. ♦
