DTI continues STRACAP Caravan, conducts two-day information and workshop sessions in Cavite

Cavite, Philippines — The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) concluded the second leg of the Standards, Technical Regulations, and Conformity Assessment Procedures (STRACAP) Caravan. Held from December 10 to 11, the caravan in Silang and Dasmariñas has ramped up the Department’s nationwide initiative to bolster industry compliance and safeguard consumer welfare.
“In keeping with our mission to engage stakeholders across regions, the Department is dedicated to equipping industries, consumers, and future leaders with the essential knowledge needed to stay ahead of evolving product policies and practices,” said DTI Secretary Cristina A. Roque.
“These initiatives enable stakeholders to navigate the fast-changing landscape of global standards and market demands. By fostering a culture of compliance and informed decision-making, we ensure that Philippine industries prioritize product safety, quality, and competitiveness,” she added.
Facilitated by the DTI-Bureau of Philippine Standards (BPS), the first day of the caravan gathered stakeholders such as manufacturers, retailers, and officials from the CALABARZON region at the Silang New Municipal Hall. The participants engaged in comprehensive discussions on standardization and conformity assessment processes, led by the Standards Conformity Division, Standards Development Division, Standards Mainstreaming Division, and Product Testing Division.
On the second day, 132 architecture and engineering students from the National College of Science and Technology in Dasmariñas actively engaged in a series of lectures and workshops. These sessions covered key topics such as BPS programs and services, standards development, technical regulations, and conformity assessment procedures.

Through the STRACAP caravan, the DTI-BPS aims to highlight the significance of standards, technical regulations, and conformity assessment procedures to local stakeholders, underscoring the STRACAP’s role in ensuring product quality, safety, and competitiveness.
