DTI meets GoLeanSixSigma.com to explore SME upskilling and capacity building initiatives
Makati City, Philippines—On 10 April 2025, the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) through the Foreign Trade Service Corps (DTI-FTSC), met with GLSS (GoLeanSixSigma.com) representatives to discuss potential collaboration on capacity-building initiatives for Philippine small and medium enterprises (SMEs). During the meeting, GLSS engaged with local exporters and presented proposed training programs aimed at enhancing operational efficiency, competitiveness, and global readiness of SMEs through Lean Six Sigma inspired methodologies. The discussion is a follow through of the previous meeting on April 4, 2025.
Participating in the meeting were export-ready SMEs that champion the use of Philippine coconut as a key ingredient in their products—from food and beverage to wellness and personal care lines. These enterprises have been gaining traction in international markets by promoting sustainable, high-value coconut-based products that reflect the country’s agricultural strengths and innovation in product development.
The proposed collaboration aims to equip these SMEs with the tools and frameworks to streamline their operations, reduce waste, and improve quality standards. By adopting Lean Six Sigma practices, these businesses are expected to further scale up, meet international compliance requirements, and strengthen their competitiveness in the global marketplace.
