Good prospects for PH banana exports
SINGAPORE—At the sidelines of the 6th Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) Inter-sessional Ministerial Meeting on 12-13 Oct, DTI Secretary Ramon Lopez pushed the Philippines’ (PH) agenda for greater market access of certain local agricultural products like bananas.
“The Philippines is engaging in high-level bilateral meetings to reach a mutually beneficial arrangement with our partner countries,” said Sec. Lopez. The Secretary revealed brighter prospects on market access for our banana exports. The countries involved will be working on their respective domestic procedures to reach a conclusion on this trade arrangement.
PH is one of the major producers and exporters of bananas worldwide and is often the biggest supplier to many Asian countries.♦
